Lucas

Lucas is a sleek grey cat with large, curious eyes that sparkle with intelligence and warmth. He wears a bright red scarf that’s become his trademark, a splash of color against his soft fur. Slightly bigger than his best friend Eddie, Lucas often takes the lead on their adventures, guiding them through bustling cities, quiet villages, and breathtaking landscapes. Thoughtful and observant, he loves sketching landmarks in his travel journal, capturing the beauty of each new place. Lucas is endlessly curious, asking questions about history, culture, and food. Friendly and kind-hearted, he makes friends easily, leaving smiles wherever he goes.

Eddie

Eddie is a lively orange tabby cat with big, expressive eyes and a playful grin. He carries a bright blue backpack everywhere, always ready for snacks, souvenirs, or surprises. Slightly smaller than his best friend Lucas, Eddie’s boundless energy keeps their adventures exciting. He loves trying local foods, meeting new friends, and finding the silliest photo spots. Mischievous yet lovable, Eddie often stumbles into funny situations, turning mishaps into laughter. He’s curious about everything, especially anything tasty or unusual. With his warm heart and infectious enthusiasm, Eddie brings joy to everyone he meets, making each journey even more unforgettable.

The Real Lucas and Eddie

Our two main characters are based on real cats who delighted the author and his family for many years. Lucas, pictured on the right, was the thoughtful cat, the “solid citizen”; Eddie, on the left, was the winsome and willful one, always looking for mischief. Together they were a loving pair who shared all the attributes of our brave adventurers in the stories.

Meet The Author

Peter Weinberg is a Chicago-based author who began writing his children’s book series for one very special reader: his grandson Leo, who lives in London with the author’s son David and daughter-in-law Alexandra. What started as a personal gift grew into a passion for helping children everywhere discover the beauty and diversity of cultures around the world.
A retired strategy consultant with a Master’s degree in Accountancy, he has lived in South Africa, England, Ireland, and the United States. His deep interests in history, philosophy, and politics bring a thoughtful layer to stories that remain joyful, engaging, and easy for young readers to love.
The stars of the series are based on his real-life cats, Lucas and Eddie, who were as curious and adventurous in spirit as they are on the page. Through their eyes, children explore faraway places and global traditions, all while learning empathy, openness, and wonder.
Peter lives in Chicago with his wife of 25 years, Ellyn, and is a proud grandfather who cares deeply about the next generation. He believes that today’s children need more opportunities to connect with the wider world through story, imagination, and cultural understanding.
His books are a perfect fit for homes, classrooms, and libraries, offering both fun and depth for young explorers and the grown-ups who guide them.
